Dr Catherine Hanley is an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, and holds a BA (Hons) degree and a PhD from the University of Sheffield. She is the author of an academic book, two historical biographies, and a number of scholarly articles published in highly regarded journals, as well as six novels and numerous cricket-related pieces published in various books, magazines and websites including Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack.

Catherine has extensive experience of editing, proofreading, and commenting on texts in a wide variety of fields including academic books and articles in arts and humanities fields; theses and dissertations; trade and general history, biography and literary study; and fictional works (particularly historical fiction). She adheres to exacting standards of language, and has also taught grammar and ‘writing for publication’ workshops at university level.

Catherine currently takes on copy-editing and proofreading work on a freelance basis for a number of publishing houses, and also works with individual clients looking to publish or self-publish.
