Dr Catherine Hanley is an Advanced Professional Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, and holds a BA (Hons) degree and a PhD from the University of Sheffield. She is the author of an academic book, a historical biography, and a number of scholarly articles published in highly regarded journals, as well as four novels and numerous cricket-related pieces published in various books, magazines and websites including Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack.

Catherine has extensive experience of editing, proofreading, and commenting on texts in a wide variety of fields including academic books and articles; theses and dissertations; textbooks; fictional works (particularly historical fiction); funding proposals; and presentations. She adheres to exacting standards of language, and has also taught grammar and ‘writing for publication’ workshops at university level.

Catherine is currently the copy editor and proofreader of the academic journal Reinvention, hosted at the University of Warwick; she also takes on copy-editing work on a freelance basis for a number of publishing houses.
