I am an experienced copy-editor and Advanced Professional Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, working predominantly in humanities disciplines but also in the social sciences and more general narrative works.
I have a PhD in Medieval Studies and a BA (Hons) in modern languages; in addition to having an exceptional command of written English I can read modern French, German and Dutch as well as having a thorough knowledge of Old French; I am experienced in a number of the recognised referencing styles such as MLA and MHRA.
I can provide a professional copy-editing service to you: polishing the author’s text; checking grammar, spelling, punctuation and syntax; amending for consistency; checking references and bibliographies; applying your style guide and marking up text for your typesetter. I understand the demands of working to a tight publishing schedule and can offer attention to detail, a friendly approachable manner, and work submitted on time.
Due to my additional experience as an author of both academic and fiction work, I can understand the needs of your authors and can edit in a sympathetic manner according to individual circumstances.
Recent clients include Cambridge University Press, Taylor & Francis, The History Press, The Mystery Press, Head of Zeus, Routledge, and Reinvention, an academic journal based at the University of Warwick.
